A skatepark in Dalyellup is a step closer to reality after Capel Shire Council last week supported applying for a $200,000 grant for the project.

The council voted unanimously to apply for a Community Sport and Recreational Facilities grant alongside supporting a $663,800 commitment in its long-term financial plan.

It follows more than a year of community consultation and workshops.

The 1125sq m proposed skatepark will include a “plaza style” skate area, skate bowl, barbecue area, carpark and shade.

It is anticipated the entire project will cost nearly $1.7 million.
