Kate FieldingSouth Western Times

Dardanup Shire Council has supported a 4.5 per cent rent hike ahead of locking in its 2018-19 financials next week.

In a special meeting last Wednesday, the council endorsed the rate increase along with a number of projects for its draft 2018-19 Budget.

The increase is equal to an extra $70 a year for households.

Major projects include $6.27 million for rural and urban road projects, dual use paths and bridges and $147,000 on free community events.

The council also supported $100,000 a year earlier to start stage one of a new playground for Peninsular Lakes Estate in Eaton.

The budget is set to be adopted at a council meeting on Wednesday.
