The South West Soccer Association has confirmed key dates for the 2019 season, with the first round of a revitalised Pioneer Cup kicking off on Sunday, March 17.

A traditional Cup-based competition, this season it will be utilised as an optional pre-season competition, with the final held on ANZAC Day.

The regular season begins on April 7, with the annual “Charity Shield” fixtures in both senior men’s and women’s competitions heralding the opening of the new campaign two days earlier.

Association president Steve Gibson was optimistic about the season ahead.

“With an all new executive committee for 2019 – we felt it was important to provide a pre-season option for the clubs which also simplifies the season’s fixtures,” he said.

”The committee and I look forward to supporting and fostering South West soccer in 2019, with the Pioneer Cup one of the many improvements on the horizon.”
