Do-or-die encounter for Colts and Green Caps

Leschenault’s brave bid to reach the BDCA grand final has captivated many within the South West cricket community. However, any talk of grand finals will have to wait, given the Green Caps’ most pressing assignment is Saturday’s first semifinal against Colts at the Bunbury Recreation Ground. The Green Caps set up last Saturday’s impressive 81-run win through dominant batting. Youngster Tyne Dodds (58 off 142 balls) and clean-hitting Steve Denison (45 off 66 balls) were able to handle quality pace bowling from Liam Renton and Julian Crudeli, which laid the foundations for a healthy total. In order to extend their finals campaign, the Green Caps will need to replicate the performance — although this could prove tricky, because Colts have no shortage of talent within their bowling stocks. Leschenault have also received a boost heading into the clash, with opening bowler Jacob Templeton cleared to play in the semifinal after being reported last Saturday at the Eaton Sports Ground.
