Dongara Golf Club’s Heather Chaplin dominated the Capel Golf Club’s Ladies Summer Cup, finishing 12 points clear of her nearest competitor.

The annual two-day, 36-hole stableford attracted more than 160 competitors to the region, but it was Chaplin who starred, finishing the championship on 85 points.

Kwinana’s Lynn Massingham finished second on 73 points, with Capel’s own Lucy Widdup finishing 10th with 68 points.

The gross winner was Chandler Pyke, from Cottesloe, who finished on 61 points, while the veteran’s winner was Sandra Turner, from Kwinana.

Capel Golf Club general manager Paul Campaner said he was pleased with the turnout for the competition.

“It was a hugely successful two days,” he said.

“The ladies’ committee did another fantastic job organising our best event of the year.”
