The Donnybrook-Balingup Shire Council will host a free family concert next month to bring the community together.

Aussie rock tribute band Wizards of Oz will take to the Donnybrook Amphitheatre stage at 7.30pm with families encouraged to bring their own picnic dinner and enjoy pre-show entertainment from 6.30pm.

Shire community development officer Bronwyn Hodgson said the seventh annual concert was a way of giving back to the community.

“Throughout the day there will be face painting, bouncy castles and we’re hoping to have a magician as well,” she said.

“It’s really just going to be a way to celebrate being a community.

“We try to make it different every year – so this year is rock and hopefully it will be a nice late night with everyone out dancing.”

Prior to the night’s entertainment, the council will host a thank a volunteer barbecue.

“That’s by invite and we’ve sent those out to all the community groups to pass on to their volunteers to come along,” Mrs Hodgson said.

“Our shire has one of the highest volunteer rates in the State.

The council will run a free bus service from Balingup through Mullalyup, Kirup and Newlands for the February 16 event.
