Don’t fence Eaton Foreshore park: Bennett

Bunbury Herald

A working group is pushing for the Dardanup Shire Council to support the location of a fenced dog exercise area on the Eaton Foreshore.

But shire president Mick Bennett has shot down the idea of the enclosed area’s suggested location and said it would limit the community’s recreation space.

Cr Bennett said the proposed location opposite the Eaton Bowling Club was “wrong” and that he “hated putting fences on national parks”.

“It would be locking off an area that people would normally use,” Cr Bennett said.

With the project expected to cost about $96,000, Cr Bennett said he hoped when the issue went to public comment, residents would favour an alternate site.
