Drivers license suspended after South Western Highway Collision

South Western Times

A Donnybrook man had his driver’s licence suspended after allegedly recording a blood alcohol reading more than five times the legal limit on Sunday.

A positive breathalyser reading of .276 was returned following a collision at about 11am on South Western Highway near Irishtown Road.

Donnybrook police attended the incident after it was alleged the man’s vehicle collided with the side of a truck, mounted a verge and hit trees before coming to a stop on the highway.

A police spokesman said the man was lucky to escape without injuries.

Traffic temporarily built up in both directions north of the town on the highway following the incident.

The man was charged with DUI and will appear at Donnybrook magistrates court at a later date.
