Dylan on the red carpet
Manea Senior College Year 12 student Dylan Mcintyre is preparing to walk the red carpet at this year’s CinefestOZ after being named a finalist in the Cinesnaps short film competition.
This annual project invites young, aspiring filmmakers aged 15-18 from South West schools to create 3-5 minute films exploring this year’s chosen theme – The Watch.
Dylan was one of seven finalists chosen from around the South West.
“I was really happy to find out I had been chosen,” Dylan said.
“This is the first film I’ve ever made, so I was quite shocked.”
Dylan said he drew inspiration for his film Late or Early from experts in the film industry.
Rio Tinto Greater Hope Downs general manager Gaby Poirier said this year’s competition promised an impressive calibre of entrants.
“It’s great to see representation from schools all over the South West and we’re proud to be once again supporting Cinesnaps,” he said.
Finalists will receive valuable feedback from a panel of industry professionals, this year comprising jury chairman Myles Pollard, CinefestOZ Ambassador Sophia Forrest and film producer Sonia Borella.
The grand final will take place on August 29 from 4.45pm at the Festival Hub in a red carpet event.
