Eaton skipper’s injury woe ahead of decider
Eaton is sweating on the match fitness of skipper Clint Hewson ahead of this weekend’s two day BDCA grand final against Colts at the Bunbury Recreation Ground.
Hewson confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that he tore his meniscus during the Beavers’ thrilling preliminary final win over Leschenault and was unsure on whether he would be match fit.
“I just have been to have an MRI now and it’s torn,” he said.
“I’ll find out in the next couple of days if the doctor can do anything.
“I’d be 100 per cent if it was one day, but I’m a bit worried about the second day. It’ll probably be like last week – I’ll find out in the morning. It was very painful the day after.”
Both Hewson and Colts skipper Cruize Ciallella believe positive momentum early could go a long way towards winning this weekend’s final.
“A prime example was last year,” Ciallella said.
“We were probably out of the game at drinks and a lot of us thought that when they were 0-120, but a bit of belief was all we needed. We scraped 130-140 runs to get 40 odd runs behind.
“You just have to instil belief.
“The second day we managed to get on a bit of a roll and things went our way.”
The match begins at 10am on Saturday.
