EBM’s bushfire cover warning

South Western Times

Ahead of what has been predicted to be a dangerous bushfire season, EBM has issued a warning for people to ensure their properties are insured.

“Once a bushfire is burning and the emergency warnings are in place, it’s too late to take out insurance cover,” EBM South West regional manager Murray Johnson said.

“When natural disasters like bushfires are imminent, insurers often impose embargoes on taking out new cover and some will not cover losses that occur within 72 hours of a policy being taken out.

For locals like us, the horror of the Waroona-Yarloop fires back in 2016 is permanently scorched into our memories.”
