Some of Australia’s elite middle distance runners have confirmed availability for the Qube Mile at the 2019 WesTrac Bunbury Geographe Gift.

Joining dual Olympians Ryan and Genevieve Gregson in Bunbury will be Matthew Ramsden, Sarah Billings and Jordan Williamsz, adding to a star-studded field.

And WesTrac Bunbury Geographe Gift event coordinator Jo O’Dea could not be happier.

“Entries closed on Monday and the numbers were incredible,” she said.

“The entry numbers have been that good, we’ve been able to make it free entry this year which is great.”

Ramsden, who grew up in Rockingham, believes the $78,000 prize money on offer provides a great opportunity for WA runners.

“It means a lot to the WA boys who have to travel so far to get their hands on a bit of prize money.

“High prize races not only give great competition, but create opportunities for locals to travel and run in bigger meets overseas.”

Four distances will be contested at the event in both men’s and women’s divisions: 70m, 120m, 400m and mile.

Billings is also excited about heading to the South West to pit herself against quality opposition.

“I’ve also raced some of my best races in WA so I’ll always jump at the opportunity to race there,” she said.

The 2019 WesTrac Bunbury Geographe Gift will be held at the Bunbury Recreation Ground over March 2 and 3.
