It comes as BREC throws its support behind Bunbury local and Voyager member Ashley Doodkorte, who has jetted to Europe in preparation for the contest, where they will perform Promise, a synth/progressive pop metal offering that tells an emotive story of adventure and redemption.

BREC executive director Fiona de Garis said it was exciting to see one of BREC’s crew gain such a significant international platform.

“It’s just so unusual that you get to see an artist really achieving their big dream which is always finding the biggest platform or the most effective way to share their art with other people,” she said.

“It’s really, really wonderful to have a Western Australian band up there and the other thing that is quite remarkable about Voyager’s story is that they are effectively an independent band.

“Getting those little insights from having Ash in our office is just so fascinating.”
