The Amana Living South West Seniors Expo returned for its 13th year on Sunday, with more than 70 stalls informing seniors about a range of options available to them throughout the region.

The free-entry event began at 9am at the South West Sports Centre and showcased all things senior-related from gardening equipment to pharmacy and healthcare goods.

Expo president Merv Mancer said about 5000 community members attended this year’s event and enjoyed the all-day entertainment and free medical, residential and mobility information.

The adaptive technologies on display had also come along in leaps and bounds since previous years and an increasing number of seniors learned how they could stay in their own homes more than ever before with the improvement of technology.

Capel shire community development officer and expo committee member Donna Sims said the event went well due to the efforts of Mr Mancer who continued to run the show successfully.

“Merv does a brilliant job and his ability to organise and manage an expo of such a major size was a highlight in itself,” she said.

Major sponsor Amana Living’s Treendale village manager Amanda Arnoldi said the day was beautiful and all the stalls helped a number of senior citizens.

The expo enabled visitors to see all the improvements in providing support and care to the elderly and gave them the chance to discuss questions and concerns with manufacturers and suppliers of products, services and facilities.
