A father and his three sons have won their way to the State finals of the Holden Scramble after winning the Bunbury round at the weekend.

Ledge Point County Club golfer Peter McCarrey and his sons Andrew, Robert and Iain finished with a net score of 55 in the four-person ambrose competition at the Bunbury Golf Club on Sunday.

The quartet finished just two and a half shots ahead of their nearest competition in a close round of golf.

A total of 128 players hit the course in teams of four, with 32 teams vying for a spot in the March finals.

Bunbury Golf Club general manager Des Shearer said it was a fantastic day of golf.

“It just shows how popular the event is with numbers increasing in the past 25 years,” he said.

“Across Australia there will be 32,000 competitors this year.”

After days of rain, the course was still in immaculate condition and golfers praised the playing conditions.

Shearer said the weekend’s event set up what would be a fantastic season of golf to come.
