Felicity Urqhart and Josh Cunningham to tour South West in honour of new WA-inspired single

Two of Australia’s finest folk and country voices are coming to the South West this week to take audiences on a journey to the Bogswamp.
Felicity Urqhart and Josh Cunningham, of the Waifs fame, are heading down south to celebrate their newest collaborative single Bogswamp — an upbeat country tune that celebrates self-discovery.
With a collective four ARIA awards between them, the pair will take over Margaret River this weekend before heading to Bridgetown and finishing off in Bunbury’s newest hot spot — the Froth Bunbrewery on October 12.
Eager for her premier trip to the region, Ms Urqhart told the South Western Times “regional rocks.”
“We’re both from regional parts of New South Wales. So that’s what we have grown up knowing as our people,” she said.
For the Waifs member of 30 years, Mr Cunningham said the South West held many great memories.
“We’ve always had a really great following there in Bunbury and had really fantastic shows so I’m really excited to come back to Bunbury and bring this along, Flick in tow, and introduce the good folk of Bunbury to her and her talent.”
The duo met in 2021 through music writing group “The Song Club,” drawn to each other’s skills and personalities.
Within a year of their meeting the duo released an album of the same name which hit number one on the ARIA Country Albums Chart, and went on to win the 2022 AIR Award for Best Country Album.
Their latest hit, released in August, takes a look into the power of music and nature, and how it can get you out of a “sticky rut”— largely inspired by Cunningham’s time in the Kimberley.
A deeply layered number, the song juxtaposes a fun upbeat feel with a hit-hitting meaning.
“You don’t set out a few of those kinds of elements, they often just emerge out of the process of writing the song,” he said.
“I think it’s nice when you have a song which on the surface could just be seen as light and fun but has a relevance to it as well.”
