Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham set to perform Birdsong Tour at Froth Bunbury Brewery

An ARIA and Golden Guitar-winning duo are set to hit Bunbury this weekend to showcase their new album. Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham will perform material from their album Birdsong at Froth Bunbury Brewery on Sunday night as part of a national tour. Cunningham said he started writing songs with Urquhart after they were both invited to join a musical club where they were given the task of writing a song each week to a prompt. “We developed an admiration for each other’s songs through that and decided to meet and try writing together,” he said. Their debut album Song Club was nominated for an ARIA alongside four Golden Guitars and won the AIR Independent Country Album of the Year award in 2021. Released in late September, Birdsong is their follow-up album and was influenced by artists including The Beatles, Willie Nelson, Roy Orbison and Nick Cave. Both Cunningham and Urquhart are accomplished artists in their own right. Cunnningham was a founding member of ARIA award-winning The Waifs, while Urquhart has won multiple Golden Guitars. Cunningham expressed delight in returning to town as part of the duo’s tour. “I have spent a lot of time in Bunbury over the years so it holds a special place for me,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to bringing Felicity to Bunbury this weekend and sharing our new album.” The pair will be supported in their show by South West talent Codee-Lee.
