The South Western Times has a rich history, with the first edition being printed back in 1888. In the past 135 years, we have printed thousands of editions, and many more pages to go with it.

This week, we have a look back at the South Western Times’ second century of reporting in the 80s, this time during the 20th century.

The year 1985 was a momentous year for Bunbury, marking the shift of the train station out of its traditional home in the CBD to the Wollaston terminal which is still in use today.

The change resulted in several changes to the city, with parts of Blair Street being realigned and the Bunbury Centrepoint Shopping Centre being built on the site of the former roundhouse.

The shift happened 38 years ago this week and dominated the news for the South Western Times on May 28, 1985.
