Focus on numbers and sports pathway

Bunbury and Districts Softball Association president Megan Buswell is keen for more people to play at the ballpark this summer. And given the close association between tee-ball and softball in the region, there has never been a better time for children to try a new team sport. “After the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, we had to finish our season early — so everyone is excited to be starting up in October again,” Buswell said. “Numbers are our main focus this year, as we really are trying to build on them.” Buswell believes the close relationship between both sports, operated by the same entity, is imperative. “Our tee-ballers are going to be our future,” she said. “From this year, we are hoping to align the tee-ball players with clubs as well, so it gives them a clear path from tee-ball to senior softball. “Giving them that clear pathway is brilliant as well.” The association, which is incorporated, is also fully affiliated with Softball Australia and WA, unlike some other associations across the State. Those interested are encouraged to contact BADSA prior to their sign-on events, with seasons beginning in Mid-October.
