French-inspired event to help lives worldwide

A French-inspired event has been planned to help a group of Bunbury women continue their efforts of helping other women and girls around the world.

Soroptimist International of Bunbury is organising an awareness event next month to raise money for projects which help women and girls while also breaking down barriers and stigmas associated with gynaecological issues.

Soroptomist International is a volunteer group that works towards transforming the lives of women and girls around the world for the better.

Events coordinator for the Bunbury branch Delia Dillon said the Yes You Can-Can in Moulin Rouge event on August 18 would be a French-inspired party consisting of prizes, party games, food, guest speaker Kath Mazella addressing attendees, entertainment and plenty of fun.

Mrs Dillon said the event would be held as an early celebration of International Gyn Awareness Day on September 10.

She hoped the event would help people feel more comfortable to talk about gynaecological issues, particularly cancers, which not only impacted women but also their families.

“It is a subject that isn’t easy for some people to talk about,” Mrs Dillon said.

The fundraiser will be held from 7pm in the upstairs room at the Prince of Wales Hotel.
