Gliddon helps Boomers win FIBA Asia Cup
Bunbury-raised basketballer Cameron Gliddon has helped the Australian Basketball Team claim gold at the inaugural FIBA Asia Cup in Lebanon at the weekend .
The Boomers went through the tournament undefeated and beat Iran 79-56 in the gold medal match at the Nouhad Nawfal Sports Complex on Sunday.
The Cairns Taipans captain played in five matches across the tournament and averaged more than three rebounds and six points.
Gliddon started the tournament in great form with two solid games against Japan and Hong Kong, when he scored 13 and 12 points respectively.
The 28-year-old will now return to the Cairns Taipans and prepare for the upcoming National Basketball League season and pre-season games.
The Taipans will face New Zealand Breakers, Illawarra Hawks and Brisbane Bullets in the NBL’s rejuvenated Blitz tournament.
The NBL’s Blitz will be held in Traralgon from September 7-10, with all eight teams to participate.
