If you think your town in the South West copped a soaking at the weekend - think of the poor residents of Gnomesville, in the Shire of Dardanup.

After receiving more than 20mm of rain in the space of 24 hours, the tourist destination was flooded with a number of residents forced to head to higher ground.

While some of the local gnomes were able to avoid being washed away in the downpour, others were not so lucky.

As the floodwaters receded and the extent of the damage came to light, many of the gnome figurines were left trapped under mud and sand, while others were clearly broken.

Authorities said it would take days to know the true impact of the flood.

Despite their predicament, many residents were able to put on a brave face.
