Greens call for renewable focus

Chloerissa EadieSouth Western Times

Greens candidate for Bunbury Michael Baldock says the South West needs investment in renewable energy to prevent the sector entering permanent decline.

Mr Baldock said the Greens Energy 2030 plan listed Collie as a renewable energy hub with Bunbury providing technical services.

“Collie has been the dominant supplier of energy to the Perth area for the last 50 years and that dominance is rapidly coming to an end unless it can transition to renewable energy,” he said.

”Bunbury’s economic future will continue to be linked to Collie's position as a major electricity generator.”
