Harvie makes Aussie squad

South Western Times

Boyanup Hockey Club product Jake Harvie is a step closer to being selected for this year’s Commonwealth Games after making the 18-man Australian team for the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Perak, Malaysia.

Harvie looks set to add to his 12 caps for the Kookaburras when the world’s leading team takes on Malaysia (ranking 12th), Rio Olympics gold medallists Argentina (second), India (sixth), England (seventh) and the Republic of Ireland (10th) in the tournament which runs from March 3 to 10.

The defender made his debut for the Kookaburras last November and has since been a regular.

Unfortunately, fellow South West player, goalkeeper Tristan Clemons has missed out on the tournament, with selectors opting for Andrew Charter and Tyler Lovell.
