Bunbury has picked up the gauntlet thrown down by Binningup in what is quickly becoming a fishy battle, with a local man coming forward with an even bigger dhufish today.

Proving there truly are plenty of ‘bigger’ fish in the sea, Harley Kemp reeled in this 24.4kg “donkey” of a “dhuie” earlier this month off Bunbury’s coast.

Mr Kemp contacted the South Western Times in response to a story earlier today revealing Binningup angler Sam Ashworth’s monster 21kg catch.

Mr Kemp said while Ms Ashworth’s was impressive, he could beat it.

“The jig hit the bottom and couple of twitches later I was on and this fish was not coming to the boat in a hurry,” he said.

“After about 15 minutes, we had a colour it was a dhuie.

“It hit the surface and was an absolute donkey... definitely my PB, measuring 1100mm long and 380mm deep.”

According to Mr Kemp, the wings, belly flaps and cheeks alone were enough to feed eight family and friends.
