Jamie’s kitchen on wheels to return

South Western Times

Jamie’s Ministry of Food Western Australia mobile kitchen is headed back to Bunbury, with the kitchen classroom on wheels to park at Edith Cowan University for seven weeks from August 7.

The program, delivered by The Good Foundation and supported by ECU, is an innovative community cooking program based on Jamie Oliver’s beliefs about cooking and its impact on healthy living.

The program teaches hints, tips and basic home cooking skills in an effort to encourage people to cook from scratch with fresh food, as one-quarter of all deaths in Australia are the result of diet related disease.

The visit to ECU’s Bunbury campus is particularly relevant as new research announced at the Dietitians Association of Australia conference this month showed 93 per cent of university students do not eat the necessary serves of fruit and vegetables to support them to study effectively.

The course includes a 90-minute class each week, with bookings now open at www.jamiesministryoffood.com.au.
