The Souwest Jets’ commitment to excellence in development has continued, with six of its players selected in WA’s 19 and under State team.

Those heading over to Brisbane in April for the national championships will be Riley Culnane (Busselton), Jessica Repacholi (Australind), Giselle Taylor (Australind), Ella Taylor (Dunsborough), Brooke Gibson (Busselton) and Perth-based Sloan Burton, who commutes regularly to play and train with the Jets.

In addition, Charlie Allen (Dunsborough) and Brooke Repacholi (Australind) have been selected to represent WA at 17 and under level – while Chloe Willsher (Bunbury) and Paris Newman (Busselton) are training partner players.

Jets development manager and SWAS netball coach Dale Neilsen said the club provided a fantastic opportunity for young netballers to get a taste of top-flight action.

“The success has really been a combination of both the Jets and the South West Academy of Sport,” she said.

“The girls get opportunities at a fairly young age to play at WANL level against elite opposition, which gives them experience.”

“But to have six Souwest Jets players represent half of the WA under 19 team? That has never happened before.”

In an added bonus for the

SWAS-based Jets players, Neilsen is able to take midweek State-based training sessions to minimise the need for squad members to make trips to Perth.
