Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan says the development of Koombana Bay is due to be open to the public by mid-December.

Mr Brennan said while the work was on schedule, the kiosk would not be open until January or February.

“I understand the lessee of the kiosk will have a food van, so there will be some refreshment available for the public,” he said.

Mr Brennan said the footbridge would be completed about January and he expected an opening ceremony would be held in February.

“People will be able to access the beach fairly early in December, but the continuing work at the kiosk will be cordoned off,” he said.

“We just want to make sure we can protect the community from the work site.”

Mr Brennan said he was pleased with the progress of the project.

“The landscaping of the site is progressing and looking good,” he said.

“The playground area is going to look spectacular.

“Families love Koombana Bay because of the calm waters and it is going to be ready in a couple of weeks.”
