City of Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club’s beach observation tower at Koombana Bay is a step closer to reality after it was given lease approval last week.

Bunbury City Council endorsed the club’s 10-year lease over a portion of the beach, meaning surf lifesavers will be able to patrol the popular family beach from a higher vantage point.

Club president Denise Duncan said the tower was in its final days of production and would be installed over the next month.

“This observation tower will give our patrolling lifesavers an elevated, whole beach view of Koombana Bay and respond to the needs of our beach-going community,” Mrs Duncan said.
