Labor unveils meth plan

South Western Times

Opposition Leader Mark McGowan has announced a plan to address the State’s methamphetamine “scourge”, including a specialised rehabilitation centre in the South West.

The plan is a coordinated strategy to combat rehabilitation and address education and training, Mr McGowan said.

“The methamphetamine scourge in our community reached crisis point long ago,” he said.

“We need drastic action and we need it now.”

“The current approach of cheap slogans and ad-hoc responses isn’t working.”

He said part of the plan was to have two dedicated drug and alcohol rehabilitation prisons, one for men and one for women, to target low-level drug related offenders.
