A last quarter blitz allowed the Eaton Boomers to run away with a 31-point win over Augusta-Margaret River at Glen Huon Reserve on Sunday.

The Boomers booted six goals to just one in the final term thanks to a handy breeze to win 14.8 (92) to 9.7 (61).

The Hawks had first use of a solid wind and while they dominated possession, they were wasteful in the forward line.

Hawks captain Mitch Lynn was seemingly everywhere, giving the Hawks plenty of midfield drive, while Beau Morgan, Jacob Payne and Jake Rodgers kicked goals to give the Hawks a strong 22-point lead at the first break.

The match turned in the second term as the Boomers took control thanks to the brilliance of Heath Ryder and the ruck work of Josh Branchi.

Brandon Jetta kicked two goals for the term and by half-time the home side had the lead.

The showers cleared in the third quarter and the two teams went goal-for-goal.

Luke Furlong was lively in the Hawks’ forward line while Matthew Jukes kicked two goals for the term.

However, it was the four goals that the Boomers kicked into the breeze that was vital to the end result.

They ran the ball in to their forward line with purpose and took their scoring chances.

Brandon Jetta kicked his fourth goal of the game to begin the final quarter before the turning point of the match, when a free kick in front of goal for the Hawks was reversed.

A subsequent 50m penalty saw Scott Tynan capitalise by bombing a 55m goal.

Jukes kicked his third soon after, but the Hawks’ run had come to an end.

The Boomers kicked the final four goals of the match, including two by Matt Scott after superb contested marks to grab the win over a fellow finals contender.
