A man who allegedly deliberately coughed and sneezed at nurses repeatedly while awaiting test results at Bunbury Hospital has been charged.

Police allege the 23-year-old presented to the hospital’s emergency department on Monday with a respiratory condition and was admitted for medical treatment.

He was advised he would be required to stay in isolation within his hospital room until the test results were returned.

At about 2.30pm Tuesday, it is alleged the man became increasingly agitated and left his room, approaching the nursing station which was manned by four nurses.

It is alleged he then deliberately coughed and sneezed at them repeatedly.

The man will appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court today on four counts of assaulting a person working in a hospital and will face Bunbury Magistrates Court tomorrow.
