Man charged over alleged assault on 11-year-old boy

Police have charged a man over an alleged assault of an 11-year-old boy at Treendale Shopping Centre on Monday.

The 46-year-old man allegedly punched the young boy in the chest several times following a confrontation at McDonald’s restaurant in Treendale about midday.

The incident sparked a man hunt to find the alleged attacker and police today charged a man with aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm.

The family of the young boy did not want to make further comment on the incident, but took to social media to confirm the boy had some grazes and bruising but was OK.

The man will face court at a later date.
