A Waterloo man has died after the van he was driving collided with a prime mover on South Western Highway overnight.

Major Crash investigators are calling on information into the fatal crash which occurred about 9.15pm.

The 35-year-old man was driving a red 1978 Ford Transit van south east on the highway before it collided with the rear trailer of a white 2007 Volvo Prime Mover travelling in the same direction near Waterloo Road.

The truck was towing two white and black coloured trailers.

The driver of the van was taken to Bunbury Hospital by ambulance, but died a short time later.

The 51-year-old male driver of the truck was uninjured.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw the crash or either vehicle before.
