Man found dead in Eaton street with ‘significant injuries’

Police were met with a “horrific” and “confronting” scene after they discovered a 43-year-old Carey Park man dead with “significant injuries” in an Eaton street last night. Major Crimes’ Homicide Squad and forensic services from Perth are assisting South West detectives to investigate the incident. A 42-year-old man from Eaton is in currently in custody and assisting with enquiries. South West District Superintendent Geoff Stewart said a number of vehicles were sent to Cleveland Bay Avenue about 8.20pm last night after police received multiple calls. “When police arrived, they located a deceased male in the street and a short distance away, a male person was taken into custody and that person is currently with us in this complex assisting us with enquiries,” he said. “Both the persons were known to each other, so we don’t have any concerns for community safety at this point.” While not going into details of the injuries, Supt. Stewart said they were “significant,” and items had been seized. “It was a very confronting situation not only for attending police but to the people that would have come out and seen it,” he said. “There were other emergency services there as well – but certainly the neighbours and so forth would have seen something quite horrific.” “We along with other services will provide assistance to anyone affected by this incident.” An extensive crime scene has been set up and police are investigating a house of interest.
