A Withers man has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in the chest during an incident in Bunbury’s CBD yesterday.

About 4.30pm, three men were involved in an altercation outside the Rose Hotel on Wellington Street.

Bunbury police Sen. Sgt Mal Jones said a 23-year-old man from Withers allegedly used a pair of scissors to defend himself.

One of the other men took the scissors from him and allegedly stabbed him in the chest.

The Withers man was taken to Bunbury Regional Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

A 45-year-old man of no fixed address was taken to hospital with injuries to his hand and has been charged with one count of wounding.

A 38-year-old man has been charged with common assault and possessing a prohibited drug.

Both men have been bailed and are due to appear in Bunbury Magistrates Court at a later date.

Sen. Sgt Jones said the reason for the argument was not known.

Sen. Sgt Jones said one witness reported that the argument could have been over a mobile phone.

“We’ll be looking at CCTV footage to see what that tells us as well,” he said.
