Bunbury Football Club’s Carly Allen was crowned the 2018 Nola Marino medallist on Tuesday night with 24 votes.

Allen, who played a pivotal role during the Bulldogs’ undefeated regular season, finished the count six votes clear of South Bunbury’s Ella Smith.

After receiving the medal, Allen spent time with Bulldogs teammate Kristy Larsen, with the duo both excited about Sunday’s grand final against Harvey Bulls at Hands Oval.

“We have one more job to do,” Allen said. “Hopefully this revs the team up because Bunbury Football Club did really well in the awards tonight.”

Bulldogs coach Sean Creasey has helped develop a positive culture throughout the squad, something which Allen believes has on and off-field benefits.

“We try to socialise together as much as we can to keep the team together,” she said. “And it also helps us play as a team better.”

Allen also praised her family for supporting her throughout the season. “It takes a lot of effort to get out there,” he said. “Both myself and Kristy’s families are huge supporters in babysitting and helping us get onto that field every week.”
