Men to defend their home court

The Printsync South West Slammers men’s team will defend its home court against the Willetton Tigers tomorrow night. They will need to tame a red hot Tigers offence, that scorched the Rockingham Flames 110-45 at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex on Saturday night. Doing the bulk of the damage was Travis Fee (24 points), who shot 8/11 in the paint, 2/3 from outside and also went 3/4 at the charity stripe. Even with the game sewn up at three-quarter-time, the Tigers did not let up, outscoring the Flames 30-9 in the final term. Although they had a rough night against the Perth Redbacks, the Slammers showed plenty last Friday night against the Lakeside Lightning, where they fell 62-61. One thing which did please coach Mark Worthington during the Lightning loss was how his side limited its turnovers, finishing with 14 on the night. After missing its first 18 three-point attempts, the Slammers offence also began to find its rhythm, sinking five of their final 12 attempts. The Slammers coach believes his side is still learning many valuable lessons about basketball at State level, but is confident results will come as his side continues to mature as a group.
