Cash boosts to a dozen hospitals and health facilities in the South West will result in major maintenance works being delivered.

Funding was announced by the WA Government this week as part of an $81.5 million maintenance blitz.

Among the 12 services to receive some of the $7.34 million for the South West, Collie Hospital will get about $4 million.

Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray said the extra $4 million added to the $12.2 million already pledged to Collie Hospital in May. “There has been a considered effort to minimise the need for patients in the region to travel for treatments that could just as easily be catered for closer to home,” he said.

Bunbury Community Health will receive $50,000 for maintenance, Bridgetown Hospital $1.6 million, Busselton Health Campus $470,000 and Harvey Hospital $600,000. Funds will also go to hospitals in Augusta, Margaret River, Nannup, Pemberton and Donnybrook and to the Northcliffe Nursing Post and Leeuwin Lodge.
