Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray has opened a new outdoor function centre at the Donnybrook Community Resource Centre, funded by a $20,000 grant from the electorate’s share of the Local Projects, Local Jobs funding.

Mr Murray said the outdoor facility would benefit both the Donnybrook CRC and the community.

“The new outdoor function area at the Donnybrook Community Resource Centre will greatly benefit the community as it will become available for hire for birthdays, weddings and other functions,” he said.

“In country towns, these building are multi-purpose hubs in the community and this is a fantastic community resource available to anyone who wants to hire it out.

“The Donnybrook CRC will soon have the ability to hire out this area, which will help defray the cost associated with running the facility.”

Donnybrook CRC committee chairwoman Lee Fitzgerald said the facility would also provide shade for families at the nearby Apple Fun Park.

“A lot of people in the community have been asking for more shade in this part of town so hopefully this helps,” she said.
