The winless South West Slammers women’s team travel to the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre on Friday night for a clash against the in-form Mandurah Magic.

Many in the Slammers camp are no strangers to the Magic’s personnel, as many of them participate in the Bunbury Senior Basketball League each summer.

Aside from Magic coach Vlad Alava, who guided Aces Sky to last season’s senior women’s premiership, forward Carly Boag is also having a fantastic season.

Boag, along with twin sister Christina, also plays for Aces Sky in the BSBL. Her good form has extended into the NBL1 West women’s campaign, where she is averaging a double-double each week.

Slammers duo Javene Fitch and Lauren Vincent will need to keep tabs on the dangerous Sarah Toeaina, who burned Alex Ciabattoni’s side when both teams last met in April.

Offensively in 2023, the Slammers women’s team have successfully made 151 shots from 515 attempts — comprised of 105/310 inside the paint and 46/205 beyond the arc.

Despite several heavy defeats, two of their best offensive performances of the season have occurred during the past month.
