Despite entering Saturday night’s home clash against Perry Lakes fresh from a bye, there is unlikely to be any relief for the beleaguered South West Slammers women’s team.

In every game this season, the Slammers — with no import or present WNBL player on their books — have struggled to keep up with the pace.

One of the biggest issues this season for Alex Ciabattoni’s side has been a lack of height, something which the Hawks are likely to exploit at the Eaton Recreation Centre.

In sixth position, the Hawks enter Saturday’s clash off an impressive 104-56 beat-down of the Perth Redbacks.

Aside from several offensive highlights, notably Samantha Ashby coming off the bench to drop 20 points, the Redbacks were restricted to 18 second-half points by the vice-like Hawks defence.

Both sides last met in April, with the Hawks rolling to a 102-47 victory over the Slammers in Perth, who committed a season-high 45 turnovers in the harrowing defeat.

Scouting report:

Women: (Hawks)

League position: 6th. Last round: defeated Perth Redbacks 104-56; top performer (v Redbacks) — Ashleigh Isenbarger (17 points — 6/6 field goal attempts, 1/2 three-point attempts, 2/2 free throw attempts, nine rebounds, 11 assists, two steals, four blocks).
