South West netballers have dominated selection for this year’s WA 17 and under and 19 and under teams, after eight girls were picked across the two squads.

Riley Culnane, 17, was picked in the 17 and under WA squad for the second straight year, with Ella Taylor, Giselle Taylor and Brooke Gibson, all 16, to join her.

Brooke Repacholi, 14, and Elycce Webb, 16, have been selected as train-on players and will be called upon if there are any injuries.

Jessica Repacholi and Harmony Sutherland, both 17, have been picked in the 19 and under team, with both squads to compete at the respective national championships from April 17 to 22 in Adelaide, South Australia.

South West Netball regional development officer Dale Nielson said it was outstanding to have eight girls in the State teams.

“These girls are excellent role models and will encourage others to excel,” she said.

Nielson said the pathway for netballers in the South West had helped develop so many young players.

“We are really fortunate that we do play in the WA Netball League and that we can bring our young girls through into the 18s and now the reserves and open leagues,” she said.

“They get strong match-play every week.”
