New footpath policy adopted

Kate FieldingSouth Western Times

Bunbury City Council has adopted a new Footpath Contributions for Development Policy despite one councillor labelling it “vague and subjective”.

The interim policy sets out footpath contribution calculations for new developments following two disputes from developers in the past month.

Cr Todd Brown argued against the policy, which could be replaced in about a year, saying it needed to be reworked to be more “upfront and logical”.

The interim policy is expected to be replaced by a development contribution plan in at least 12 months.
