The Dunsborough Oilers secured their maiden victory of the 2018/2019 Bunbury Basketball Association senior summer competition, with a comprehensive 82-54 A-Women’s win over Aces Sky last night at the South West Sports Centre.

After showing plenty of spirit during their slender round one loss to Tornadoes Black, the visitors burst out of the gate with a 10-2 run early in the first quarter, with Beige Harris and Adele East combining beautifully.

Aces Sky managed gradually gnaw their way through the deficit and pulled to within a point midway through the second half, after Emily Jones sunk a basket in the key way.

However that would be as close as they would get for the remainder of the night.

Both Adele (27 points) and cousin Dana East (24 points) shouldered the offensive load, while Lauren Vincent and Sydney Lewis battled hard for Aces Sky.

In the all-Tornadoes match up, Black were resounding 65-40 winners over Red, with the victors running rampant in the final five minutes of the game.

After staying in the rear view mirror for three and a half quarters, Black went on a staggering 26-0 run in the final 5min:46 sec of the game, with Ebony Bilcich (22 points) having another solid night.

Two of the A-Men matches were largely one sided, with Bulls jumping Aces Sky 102-60 and Tornadoes Black downing Eaton Eagles 104-50.

Things were tighter between Tornadoes Red and Dunsborough Oilers, with Red squeaking by with an 82-77 victory.
