The Dunsborough Oilers took another step towards cementing second spot on the Bunbury Basketball Association’s A-Women table following its convincing 92-48 victory over Aces Sky on Tuesday night.

Entering the match on a four-game winning streak, the visitors were engaged in an arm-wrestle early as bottom-placed Sky refused to give an inch.

After momentarily hitting the lead following a basket from Lauren Vincent in the early stages of the first half, Oilers clicked into gear and crafted a 9-2 offensive run which gave them a handy buffer.

Offensive Oilers duo Dana and Adele East combined for 48 points – ironically Sky’s final score – while Beige Harris and Shannon Verhagen also impressed.

In the remaining game of the round, Tornadoes Black defeated sister side Red, with the league leaders gradually wearing down their opposition late.

A-Men league leaders Bulls maintained their dominance at the top of the standings, with a comfortable 91-80 victory over Aces White.

Depth was again no issue for Bulls, with three players – Travis Durnin, Clive Weeden and Chris Douglass – scoring 23 or more points

Tornadoes Red continued their push for a spot in the top four, defeating the winless Eaton Eagles 66-48.
