Online booking warning for Easter weekend

Zach RelphSouth Western Times

Consumer Protection is warning holiday-makers not to fall victim to unreliable travel tours and accommodation when booking online.

The calls come leading into this Easter weekend, with Consumer Protection officials advising South West visitors to be vigilant when booking.

A spokeswoman said although the region was not well-known for dodgy advertisers, she recommended tourists research to avoid disappointment.

“The main reports we receive is when people pay for accommodation and when they get there it is not what they expected,” she said.

“Look at reviews, recommendations or anything you can find.”

The spokeswoman also encouraged consumers to “carefully read the terms and conditions” of all travel purchases and to keep documentation and receipts.
