Openings at girls-only cricket league
Girls are being encouraged to try their hand at cricket as part of the Western Australian Cricket Association’s Girl’s Only League at Forrest Park on Wednesday nights.
Held from 4.30pm until 6pm every week, the league was created to try to get more female players under the age of 13.
“We would love for girls who have been involved in our school programs to come and join us,” said WACA South West regional cricket manager Rachel Norman.
She said the ideal number of players would be 24, so that they could have four teams compete.
Norman said there was a clear pathway for female cricketers in the South West thanks to the Perth Scorchers and Western Fury.
