Orchestra sounds season in the Valley in style
Violins, cellos. trumpets and voices rang in the season at the Ferguson Farmstay on Saturday for the Philharmonic South West’s Candlelight Christmas Concert last weekend.
Attendees gathered in the amphitheatre for performances of classic Christmas pieces from the orchestra as well as the South West Opera Company juniors, or SWOClets, and soprano Nerida Mangano.
The performance featured a range of classic Christmas pieces including the Carol of the Bells, Ave Maria, and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and less well known including Corelli’s Pastorale from Christmas Concerto and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Pie Jesu.
The performance began at 6.30pm with a medley of Christmas tunes, continued as the sun set and closed under the stars with a trio of carols.
