Two of the City of Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club’s rising stars have been selected to represent the Western Suns Development Squad in New South Wales this weekend.

For Kate Lockley, 14, and Emma Stegmann, 13, it will be a bumper three days of competition – competing in the Freshwater Open Carnival, Youth Pathway Cup and Manly Nipper Nats.

Both girls are excited about the opportunities that await them, however are well aware of the talent-laden squads Queensland and hosts NSW will bring across all events.

Club president Denise Duncan was confident the pair would give a good account of themselves while away on representative duty.

“The club is really proud of them,” she said.

“They’ve put a lot of hard work in – they are young and they have a bright future. It’s not only great for our State, but also Bunbury.”
